A massive update.

Scene news.

Just a massive update to let everyone know where we are and where we are going.

There are currently a number of upgrades going on simultaneously across twisted land and we thought we should tell you all about them.
Jamie has been feverishly working behind the scenes for a couple of weeks now and has been pulling some dreadfully late nights at the studio.

But. It’s all starting to come together.
Let’s start with a basic list of all the shit that’s different.

Lighting.

We have rebuilt the lighting system again. You won’t see much as it’s all hidden but it allows us to set up automations. This means we can set custom lighting effects across the studio which can be requested via talking to the studio or by using the App on the bar.

The entire studio is now controllable from the bar via a brand-new touchscreen. This gives access to the studio music playlists and lighting scenes.

We have introduced brand new lighting effects and of course the ability to actually speak to the studio via Google.
We have also upgraded our smart speakers and system so you can request any music you wish. If it exists – the studio can play it.

On top of this a brand-new PA system with playlists is available to play with via a station at the bar. This is piped into the entire building and allows for even more flexibility. Playlists are played via YouTube premium. You will NEVER hear an advert. If all else fails, we have access to playlists that are not internet dependant.

On top of this we have also upgraded our internet connection and bought a shiny new router, so for those of you that want to work from the studio – or for remote photography, we are fully set up.

Furniture.

We have brand new furniture coming as well. We are very excited about this as we have a new breeding bench which was custom made and it one of only 2 that exist in the world. It’s not a piece of furniture for the faint of heart and is designed to expose and restrain and not fuck about. It looks incredible and is made of solid steel. The Bench alone is a 2-man lift.

We have decided to change and integrate a couple of the pieces in the studio. Our large suspension A frame is impressive and is so huge that it lives away from the other equipment. This we feel is a shame and we have decided that it should be used more.

Our current plan is to use it as a basis for a huge single piece of play furniture. Incorporating the frame and on each side another 2 pieces of furniture. Essentially making it a jungle gym of kink.

The torture chair and a new St Andrews cross will be installed on each side of the frame to make one very useful piece of furniture.

It will be a unique statement piece for the studio.

The Shinto gate will also be moved to a more central location so it can be used from both sides. It’s duel sided and its a waste to not use it this way.

New booking facilities

We have been busy installing facilities to take bookings while staff are not on site. This has literally cost us thousands of pounds and months of work.

One of the reasons we always had people onsite was due to regulations on fire safety. We have now installed new fire doors downstairs that open out the way and have thumb bolts in the inside. No keys are required to unlock them. The upstairs doors still have keys but they now live in the doors and are always accessible from the inside. This provides privacy but also means no one can be locked in.

We changed our insurance to cover private events. This is vital and no event should be running without even basic insurance.

This gives us the ability operate far more freely. Giving us more time to improve facilities and you more hours to book in.

We can and will mostly still be onsite. But if you want to book and have the studio to yourself you will be able to.

Overnight bookings.

We still aren’t sure about overnights just yet as we need to be fully compliant with the low on that one. It would be so easy to say “crack on it’ll be fine” but the reality is the moment you start letting clients overnight in the premises you are no longer operating the same kind of business.
It essentially becomes a hotel or an air BnB. This requires a shit ton of regulatory updates and a change of use for the building – which being an office would be VERY difficult. It would probably be easier to buy a hotel and convert it to kink. There would be no way that insurance would be valid in any way. (something to keep in mind if you’re renting a space).

Website updates.

The website has been completely overhauled. You won’t see much of a difference but for us this has been months of work and it will pave the way for the future.

The site itself has been moved to a new server which has sped things along nicely. Page loading times are vastly improved.

We have built a brand-new system which will allow us to be more flexible and to let you, wonderful people know exactly what’s going on at twisted towers.

The hard part was always “how do we advertise what we do, and get still keep it private”? Well, we have figured it out.

Twisted’s Info Hub.

We are introducing a brand-new information hub.
This will be used as a method of letting the world know what’s going on and information about Twisted in general. It will allow us to bring new events to the studio. Co-ordinate existing events and provide up to date information on everything that we do. All in one place that we can oversee. We don’t need to worry about third party kinky socials pulling the plug. It means that we will always be here.

We have it separated into sections:
Up and coming events.
Educational materials.
Safety and useful into.
Workshops.
The all important “what’s on” info.
As well as the ability for us to upload video and audio. It means we can finally have a proper “hub” where we can pop genuinely useful information for the community. This will remain anonymous with just the ability to make comments but it’s a start to forming our own identity and finally making the community hub we always wanted.

Our hub for us.

Info will remain on Fetlife, but the vast majority will be on our own site where we know it’s safe.

What’s next?

We have spent months working with local clubs and events to finally bring some cohesion to the scene in the south west. From us all working together to not overlap events and to not step on each other, we have managed to make a community that is bigger, better organised, safer, and runs far smoother than ever.

This means more events to go to, bigger events not competing and more investment means that the scene can only get better. By working together, we have allowed new venues to pop up and that can and will make the community more vibrant than ever.

I’m so proud of what we have ALL achieved.
